Happy birthday!!!

A new neighbor had joined the society a few days ago. Her name was Miss Rajput and her husband had died in an accident. She lived alone and never talked to anyone. Moreover, if anyone ever tried to talk to her, she would be so rude that the adults hated her and the kids were scared of her. The only girl who hadn’t tried talking to her was Pari. She was one of those kids who would laugh on the worst jokes even if they didn’t get them.

One evening, she was playing with her friends in the society’s park when one of her friends kicked the ball so hard that it entered Miss Rajput’s house through an open window. Since all the kids were afraid of Miss Rajput, Pari took the lead and went to her house for the ball. She rung the doorbell and Miss Rajput answered it through the door bell phone, “What?” She asked. “Our ball went into your house mistakenly. can we get it back, please?” Pari asked innocently. “No.” She replied and hung up.

Next day, Pari got some brownies in school as a treat for her friend’s birthday. She did not open the box and took it home. In the evening, she took the box of brownies to Miss Rajput’s home and rung the door bell. When no one answered even after 15 minutes of waiting, she left the box of brownies on the doorstep with a not in it saying ‘These brownies are very nice. hope you like them! – Pari.’ Miss Rajput opened the door later that day and found the box with the note. She made an annoyed face to herself but took the box in.

Next day, Pari found her ball in the Society’s park with a note on it saying – ‘Make sure it doesn’t enter my house gain.’ Pari smiled to herself and started playing with her friends. After a couple of hours of playing, She convinced her her friends to take a water break at Miss Rajput’s. the kids were not very comfortable with the idea but they trusted their friend and agreed upon it. Pari rung the door bell, “What?” Miss Rajput answered on the door bell phone as usual. “We are very tired of playing, can we get some water?” Pari asked. “Go home, kids.” She replied and started to hang up but somewhere she wanted to listen to the kids that’s why she didn’t. “But we just want a quick water break and your house is the nearest to the park. Please!!!” Pari pleaded and finally convinced her to let them in. There was a silence for a few moments then there was a click sound of the door opening, “Wait.” Miss Rajput called from inside. The kids sat in her yard and had water that she gave them.

For the next 2 days, Pari did not poke her nose in Miss Rajput’s work. Then one evening, the doorbell rung. Miss Rajput opened the door hoping to see Pari, and as expected it was her. This time Pari did not say anything just grabbed Miss Rajput’s hand and took her to her house. It was pitch dark inside the house and Pari left her hand, “Where have you brought me?” Miss Rajput called out. Suddenly, lights came on and everyone shouted “SURPRISE!!!” All the society members present there sung ‘Happy Birthday’ for Miss Rajput. Yes! It was her birthday. She searched for Pari with her blurry eyes. There were tears in her eyes and a smile on her lips. She hugged Pari and kissed her on the forehead. They celebrated the evening and the beginning of Miss Rajput’s new life.
